Daniela Rathe

Daniela Rathe founded and established the German Cultural Center as a multipurpose facility (program, language and library) with a strong team of assistants.

Background

Daniela Rathe studied Eastern European language and culture (regions: former Soviet Union and Romania with a focus on cultural studies), Eastern and Southeastern European history and Romance languages and culture in Freiburg, Berlin and Paris (EHESS). She conducted additional studies abroad in Russia and France, and worked as a freelancer in Berlin in an agency for strategic marketing and at the German Museum of History (DHM). From 2005 to 2006 she was trainee in a program for future leaders of the Goethe-Institute for global application and associate at the Goethe-Institute Frankfurt (Language, DaF education, language course marketing) and Cairo (cultural program/projects in the area “Dialog with Islam”). In Egypt she was associate with “Guest of Honor Germany” at the international book fair, responsible for implementation of exhibition projects in upper Egypt, drafting and independent implementation of a youth NGO project with representatives from the entire country. From 2006 to 2008 she was Program Director of "Robert Bosch Cultural Managers in Central and Eastern Europe".

Current

Since January 2009 she has been Director of Cultural Activities in the university town of Tübingen (Cultural office), and is responsible for the city museum, library and archive. She does funding work, approves projects, and edits an independent publication series. She has also developed and implemented a cultural draft for political guidelines for Tübingen, and is in charge of education and cultural projects at European and international levels.

She is member of the strategy group "A Soul for Europe" and member of the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft.
