Andrea Stritz

Education Manager in Daugavpils, Latvia, 2003-2006

Andrea Stritz directed the Regional Education Center for German Language and Geography (RFZ) at the Daugavpils University from August 2003 to July 2006. Events in the areas of literature, theater, methodology/didactics of German as a foreign language and others were organized and held in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut Riga and many other local and German partners. Andrea Stritz was responsible for the strategic advancement of RFZ which was taken over by a local specialist after her departure.

Background

Andrea Stritz finished her Slavic and English studies at the University of Rostock. At the end of the teaching semester in 1995 she went to Russia as Federal Program Instructor of the Central Office for Foreign Study Abroad. There she worked at various Russian schools in Saratov and Samara. From 2000 to 2002 she worked as Project Manager of the Goethe-Institut for the Language Learning Center in the Volga region.

Current

Since September 2006 she has again been working as a teacher in a federal program at the Zentralstelle für das Auslandsschulwesen. For two years she worked at a Russian school in Togliatti, Russia, and in 2008 she moved back to the shores of the Daugava river in Latvia. In Riga and Daugavpils she has been preparing her students towards the DSD German language diploma (B2/C1).

Together with her husband, she is currently building a center for cultural and civic encounters in her courtyard in Latgale which will serve the four country region encompassing Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and Russia. In the summer of 2010 the center’s first large project will take place, a summer camp for German and Latvian youth.
