Polklore - Polish Folklore in the City of Stuttgart

A project by Kaja Pawełek

Host organization: Department for European and International Affairs, Stuttgart

October 2005, Stuttgart (Germany)

Young artists who were already established in Poland's art scene presented the results of their encounter with the topic "Polish folklore" in public spaces in Stuttgart. The artists worked in different formats and genres such as poster campaigns, sound installations, performances, and concerts.

The art works were adapted or completely redesigned in such a way that made them specific to the city’s urban context. The artist pursued the goal of establishing contact with Stuttgart audiences as directly as possible. "Polklore" made visible current perspectives and cultural activities from Poland and invited people in Stuttgart to a dialogue.
