DOWNLOAD & UPDATE was a consultation, residency, and exchange program for talented young artists from the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Serbia who work in the fields of contemporary dance and theater, addressing current social and/or political issues and creating alternative forms of expression.

After a call for entries, three groups were selected from each participating country, supervised by experienced mentors. Artists and specialists from Germany advised the groups, first in personal discussions in their countries, and later accompanying them at work for a few days during their residence in Germany. The summer residency ended with a show of work in progress.

DOWNLOAD & UPDATE was a pilot project for a future international network. The program supported the young artists involved and enriched cultural institutions, specialists, and the entire cultural scene. Participants made new contacts and young artists had the opportunity to take the next step on the international stage.
