Košice – European Capital of Culture 2013, Slovakia

The NGO Košice – European Capital of Culture 2013 was founded in 2008 by the city of Košice to prepare, organize and evaluate the project Košice INTERFACE 2013. As a result of this project, the city was designated the European Capital of Culture 2013. The project’s primary goal is to encourage the cultural and social life of the city and its surrounding area. This includes establishing a suitable infrastructure for culture, art and cultural industries: specifically, transforming an old military compound and various industrial parks in the city center into places where cultural life can flourish, as well as establishing a permanent international artists residence and training cultural managers.
