The "Gedankendach" Center (A home for thinking)

Located at the Tscherniwzi National University, the Gedankendach Center consists of the "German-Ukrainian cultural society in Tscherniwzi " and the "Center for German-language studies".

Whereas the latter aims to expand academic and scientific cooperation between Ukraine, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the cultural society concentrates on contemporary cultural and artistic projects from German-speaking countries in cooperation with artists and partners.

The concept of "Gedankendach" (A home for thinking) was borrowed from the poetry of Rose Ausländer and thus points to Tscherniwzi's German past through one of the city's most prominent poets.

It also links the area to a language that is not spoken there - German - but which is important in both culture and science, the center's two main fields of activity.

Exciting cultural and artistic events, scientific discussions, new creative projects, international exchanges - these are but a sample of what is happening in this "Gedankendach".
