Timon Perabo

Cultural Manager at the Multimedia Center, Theater Dodona in Pristina, Kosovo, 2007-2009

Timon Perabo established a German-Kosovar program department at the Multimedia Center/Theater Dodona and directed this department from 2007 to 2009. He organized a two-year documentary film school for Kosovar directors and produced the films made there. Young people from Kosovo and other European countries critically discussed with each other their history and its account during various projects within the "Kosovo-history workshop" designed by Timon Perabo at the Multimedia Center. In addition, he developed international literature and theater projects and assumed responsibility for the press and public relations at the Multimedia Center.

Background

After finishing high school, Timon Perabo spent seven months as an English teacher at a village school in Bihar, India. He then studied sociology and political science at the Humboldt University of Berlin, the Freie Universität Berlin and the Institute of Political Studies in Rennes with a focus on the transformation process in Eastern Europe and recent history of the Western Balkans. He was an intern in the regional office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Sarajevo and in the German Federal Foreign Office, and worked as an associate at the European Stability Initiative (ESI), the exhibition “Srebrenica Remembrance for the Future” by the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Berlin und various congresses. He also developed the film and discussion series “Blackbox Balkan” at the Humboldt University of Berlin on the collapse of Yugoslavia. He has written articles for various newspapers, and from 2007 to 2009 was a Kosovo correspondent for the journalist network n-ost.

Current

Timon Perabo directs the project “War children – life paths till today” at the Anne Frank Center in Berlin. In addition he has recently developed and organized the symposium “'Gypsies? What is that supposed to mean? Image and Self-Perception of Europe's largest minority” together with the Allianz Culture Foundation and the German Federal Agency for Civic Education. He works as well as a journalist and author.
