Stefanie Hübner

Cultural Manager at the International Elias Canetti Society in Ruse, Bulgaria, 2008-2010

Stefanie Hübner managed the arts and culture department within the Canetti Society from 2008 to 2010. The co-operation with Bulgarian partners was as important to her as the collaboration with German and internationally operating institutions. In addition to the further development of already existing event formats, she succeeded in creating new impulses to performing and cinematic arts projects. Furthermore, through various public relations activities she effectively participated in the development of a new institutional profile for the ECS, thus improving the Society’s external perception by giving it a new face.

Background

After graduating from German high school, Stefanie Hübner enlisted for a voluntary service at the "megaphon", a street newspaper in Graz, Austria. Subsequently, she enrolled at Leipzig University to study theater, general and comparative literature and Russian. Stays abroad at the universities of Vienna, Austria and Kazan, Russia added to her professional and foreign-language competencies. After graduation she was accepted to a one year Master program in European Studies jointly conducted by the three Berlin universities. As a postgraduate she gained initial experience in cultural project management, e.g. during a theater festival in Leipzig and at the Goethe Institute in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and worked as a Robert Bosch Cultural Manager for the Elias Canetti Society in Ruse, Bulgaria until August 2010.

After returning to Germany Stefanie Hübner worked as Cultural Education Consultant and Coordinator for Web Representation of the State Funded Program “Culture and School” at the Cultural Office North Rhine-Westphalia in Gütersloh. In addition to her executive and coordinating function for several projects in the fields of children’s and youth education, she worked on committees deciding on the sponsorship and promotion of youth theatre as well as for artistic projects in schools.
