NGO Kontrapunkt, Skopje, Macedonia

The Kontrapunkt NGO was founded in 2001 in Skopje by a group of intellectuals and cultural activists. Kontrapunkt has dedicated itself to enlivening the local cultural scene through alternative projects and strengthening local and international cooperation in the cultural area. The group is also active in inter-ethnic dialog and in dealing with cultural identities.

From May 2002 through April 2010 the NGO has operated the cultural center in Tocka, which both served as a bookstore for the in-house publisher "Templum" as well as a venue for public debates and also artistic and cultural events.

At the moment Kontrapunkt is directing the transnational project "deschooling.classroom", which promotes self-organizing structures in the arts and culture.
