Multimedia Center, Teatri Dodona, Pristina, Kosovo
Multimedia Center was founded in 2002 with the goal of promoting and further developing the visual arts and contemporary theater in Kosovo. It is here that young writers from Kosovo and the surrounding region gather together, write pieces, and bring them to life on stage. Most of the pieces are devoted to the current living conditions in Kosovo and address topics such as reflections on the war, migration, poverty, and the coexistence of various sectors of the population.
The exchange with foreign partners is a vital element of Multimedia Center’s work, and numerous international co-productions have developed in the last few years. A regular exchange with German artists has taken place since 2007.
Of particular interest is a theater for and by children, for which the Center for Children’s Theater Development (CCTD) was founded and a youth theater group brought to life through active participation in the Arrow Network.
Multimedia Center uses the "Forum Theater", developed by Augusto Boal, to insert itself in actual social and policy debates or initiate similar debates. In more and more Albanian and Serbian towns, scenes are being performed on the topic of “missing persons”. The interventions and subsequent audience discussions were documented and published in a trilingual book.
