Christian Gracza

Cultural Manager at the Lenau-Haus in Pécs, Hungary, 2007-2010

Christian Gracza acted as a Robert Bosch Cultural Manager at Lenau Haus in Pécs from August 2007 to July 2010. He planned and realized the external cultural activities of the insitution in close collaboration with local, regional and international partners. In addition to being a promoter of an up-to-date image of Germany in Southern Hungary, he was art director of “The Endliche Automaten Laptop Orchestra’s composition journey through Central and Southeast Europe” and the “Victor Vasarely International Contest for Art in Public Space”. He also co-ordinated the overall freelance activities of the European arts and cultural scene related to the “European Capital of Culture 2010” program period.

Background

Christian Gracza studied economics, cultural sciences, art history and modern history at Leipzig University from 1994 to 2002. Since 1996 he was involved in numerous exhibition projects and other cultural events in Germany and abroad. From 2002 to 2004 Christian Gracza was a research associate at Leipzig project gallery “Lichtung”. He worked at the campaign’s office of European City of Görlitz-Zgorzelec applying for the “European Capital of Culture 2010” from 2005 to 2006. After the end of the fellowship he co-curated the international art exhibition “In between: displaced harmonies/dissonant states" which was part of the "European Capital of Culture 2010" program in Pécs.

Current

Since Septeber 2011 he is curator of the international exhibition "aquamediale for art in public space", which will take place in the Spreewald region from 9. June till 9. September, 2012.
